Contradictory, Isn't It?

We all want to be accepted.

You, me, him, and her.

We all want to be known for who we are,

But can't help hiding behind another face.

It's contradictory, isn't it?

We all want to be "understood", but not understood.

We all want to be trusted in, but can't put our faith in others.

That's just how humans are right?

We all are human, and that much is true.

So then why do we all so desperately need someone?

Escape lonliness? Boredom?

"If that's only what we all want,

Then aren't the extra faces unnecessary?

No one likes a 2-faced bitch!"

Maybe, but that's just how we all cope.

We all can't help but be insecure.

We all wear these masks in hopes others will like either one,

And we all can finally stop hiding.

"It'd be simpler to just become bare-faced,

And not give a damn wouldn't it?"

Easier said than done.

Once we all take off these masks,

The dream is over and reality will hit us all hard.

Turns out everyone is wearing their own masks.

Everything was already an illusion..
