Contemplation

Location

Knowledge is like pearls fallen

On a clean slate. A connect-the-dots;

A complex task; to be taken

With care. To place all of the thoughts,

Connecting each with the others,

Weave a giant, complex web.

And placing jewels among brothers

Does my imagination grab.

When asked to explain my thought

Down so many paths they bound,

In the flood my attention is caught,

And the origin is nearly drowned.

And occasionally before I sleep,

Into the unknown my knowledge leaps.

Interested, I slowly start to wake,

And an image gradually comes to mind,

Oh, the things I could make!

And like the spring the inventor did wind,

Sprung into motion,

Taking action on the sole notion

There is more to see, to do, to know,

Far longer, the midnight oil will glow.

Because from my thoughts come new notions,

Notions to be considered, understood, and connected,

Those notions become ideas, become thoughts.

The unknown spreads before me like the worlds oceans,

And little by little I explore even more,
Knowing that, someday, I will leave this familiar shore.
