This forgotten world, we are all alone

From sea to shining sea is all we know

This mind, deluded, we are error prone

Look up, and all we see are clouds, not crows

But time passes, we see glimmers of hope

Shooting stars, singing larks, how can I say

That our world is lost, that we have to cope

When there’s indication that we’ve been made

But everything that glimmers will soon fade

And none of our hopes will be justified

In man’s past, never has there been a date

Where magic prevails, and logic, denied

Who’s to say we aren’t a coincidence?

That there’s no reason for our skittishness?
