Confined Dreams

Almost as if the floor is lava

she twirls and spins and leaps

toes brushing briefly against

the scarred and forgiving ground.

She twirls and spins and leaps

faster and faster until… jolting awake

the scarred and forgiving ground

absorbs her long lost dreams.

Faster and faster… until jolting awake...

the world just isn’t made for her

absorbing her long lost dreams

and placing her hidden hopes inside

The world just isn’t made for her

the stares, the pokes and pity now gone.

Placing her hidden hopes inside.

her legs, now become strong pillars

The stares, the pokes and pity now gone

instead of the wobbling wheels to carry her

Her legs, now become strong pillars

and she can finally take a stand

Instead of wobbling wheels to carry her

She flies… The infirmities confine no more,

She can finally take a stand

To her mind, to that society, to her fate

She flies… The infirmities confine no more.

As the night draws near, she feels the dreams within reach out

to her mind, to that society, to her fate

and the confined dreams become loosed.
