Complications of Friendships

Location

A scoop of chocolate

a scoop a strawberry

add the sprinkles

They're needed every now and again.

But I like my scoops without sprinkles.

The flavors,

the taste,

interesting enough to stand alone,

together.

What I need sprinkles for?

To fall off when the scoops get a little loose?

To be gone with the first lick,

to slide off when the suns beams its intense rays?

Naw, keep my cone sprinkle free.

Interesting is what I said before,

when you've had the cone long enough

the scoops begin to mix.

Kind of a complicated situation,

you start to lick and lick

to keep it all in one place.

After all, you choose these flavors.

My scoop of chocolate has chips,

chocolate chips.

I've been eying this one chocolate chip,

bigger than the rest,

promising me flavor like no other.

At least that's what I'm getting from this,

delicious looking chocolate chip

I'll save it for last.

You always save the best for last.

But what's it doing?

Darn you sun!

Your influence was unnecessary.

Now it's sliding onto the strawberry scoop.

But I don't want no strawberry flavoring on

my selected chocolate chip!

I'll just lick it right up before it touches,

goes deeper into the strawberry scoop.

Oops,

I just somewhat dented the strawberry scoop.

Give it time,

it'll match the rest of the cone.

Yes time.

Was I wrong for not allowing the two scoops to mix?

It was my decision to stack the chocolate scoop on top of the strawberry,

to make things a little easier.

I could have got two separate cones,

one for chocolate

one for strawberry.

But what if I couldn't get to one cone

before it completely melted away.

I just wanted my two favorite flavors at one time,

without having to make one a priority over the other.

I can't make that type of decision.

They're both so good to me.

But was it worth it,

that chocolate chip I've been eying was delicious.

I think I'll get more next time.

As more summer days pass

there's less and less strawberry.

There's not enough

of the strawberry.

But this, over-scooping of chocolate with the chocolate chips

has become the usual.

That's all the ice cream man knows

and now I can hardly resist.

But I loss the flavor of the equal blend

of chocolate and strawberry.

I feared that.

But when I get my cone back to the way it used to be

in the beginning of the summer,

will it be the same?

My taste buds have changed.

I wish it could be the same.

I won't get greedy this time.

Just give it time.

I'll give it time,

they will readjust.
