Come Home Jed

Honor,

Duty,

You fight for flag and freedom.

You fight for honor, and you fight for each other.

You feel it’s a duty, although it’s rather unpleasant.

Dignity,

Respect,

We respect what you do.

Your actions earn dignity, and they earn courage.

Although it’s hard to believe what you do, you do it for us.

Family,

Christmas,

Soon you’ll see your families.

You want to forget what you’ve seen and what you’ve done.

although it’s sad and phenomenal, you’ll be glad the know it’s Christmas.

Happy,

Caring,

Encouraging.

This poem of mine comes from my heart as i watched for the third time my cousin Jed leave for Afghanistan. Everytime he came back changed and never the same. He made it through but it will never be as it was. Thank you for this chance to win a scholarship and live on America!
