Colors of Me
My mother once told me to be multicolored like a rainbow
I painted myself with vibrant colors
Reds, blues, greens, oranges
The plethora of colors-- each one an aspect
My heart.
The glaring red covered books
They stare back at me
Endless battles, fantasies, and dreams
A knight, a lion
A heart.
I hear the pencils scratching, pages flipping
This is English
A blue expression
It’s an outlet for survival, an age old way of life
The heart.
Never any green
For green is that of ending the battle
At least for a little while
It is both my favorite and my love
That heart.
Oranges
They roll through your life
Your little globe
Our wagons
Our hearts.
My mother once told me to be multicolored like a rainbow
I painted myself with vibrant colors
Reds, blues, greens, oranges
The plethora of colors-- each one an aspect
My heart.
