College: My Sweet Escape

I've got a lot of people in this life.

They tell me what to do or who to be.

I listen, and I nod.

They are my loved ones.

They see me as I want them to.

They see me smile.

I give everything my all.

But, what am I giving after all?

I am a worker.

A drone, if you will.

With two jobs, school and musical,

this eighteen year old has it all.

I don't have much free time

because that's the price I pay.

This curtain covers the college-yearning girl:

she just wants to get away.

To be on my own is what I would like.

I've got stressors available every night.

I like to relax.

I love to play.

I wish I could just have it my way.

Don't think that I don't adore these people.

It's true.

But if you could get away,

wouldn't you too?
