College Class
I realized I wasn't a kid anymore
when I stepped out of the front door
by myself, backpack on my back,
eyes looking straight ahead, above the floor.
I was going to school on my own,
No longer feeling alone,
but with this weight on my shoulders
I knew I had to be strong like a boulder.
I was officially an adult going to college
I've dreamt of this moment,
and I even made one or two collages.
I also didn't know what it meant
to be grown until I bought a bottle
of alcohol and drove to the liquor store
I was pushing the accelerator full throttle
on the way there.
The moment I knew I was an adult
was when I was in college class,
being on my own, and owning up to my faults.
My thoughts and motives were first
before anyone else's thoughts and motives.
I was actually growing up
It felt amusingly great and made me feel alive.
