clutching the sides

clutching the sides
bruised and rain soaring
the sea beyond throbbing, thrashing, and churning
and the chains remains bind on him
for many years, this has been his biggest setback
his wall became a safe haven for him
where one doesn't feel the pain
now, he wants to finally let it go
their names are carved in stones
each tear represents and puts these stones into place
the white tuxedo he wears is ripped into shreds and stained
from trying to fight his chains
its fear that ties him still
fear of uncertainty
fear of the unknown
fear of vulnerability
fear of despair
fear of the pain that comes from you
is it really time to set this individual free?
he finds the key and unlock the cuffs
he begins to stand, but later fall
the sharp stones that smothers and litters the earthen floors
of his cell cuts right into his pale flesh
he doesn't feel fresh
the stinging pain brings no tears into his eyes
he stands and stumbles to the gates
having alot on his plate
his blood dripping all around him
and on his white tux
he unlocks the gate, hands shaking
body shivering
he walks through into the daylight
he is free
but why does it feel like he is still drowning?

This is great! I read it three times just to really understand the emotion of how he felt when he got out and still in the end he could not escape what he was force to see and feel throughout the years...Anticipation of being free and still he was locked up...good reading thumbs up!

isn't that sad?
this is why it's so important to withstand all adversity and be free
be free of all sorrows
