Clarity for the Chasm

It wasn't till I fell in love that I finally understood poetry.

I can honestly say I didn't expect it,

and God knows I did my best to hide from it-

But here's the thing- I am a chasm of supressed emotion.

I hide and I refuse to confront any of it because it's a weakness I was taught to never express,

but poetry, oh poetry,

In a moment of pure stress and anxiety and all around fear I found it.

It was a moment where it just poured out of me, the poetry flowing like electricity in my veins.

I didn't have to think about it,

it was scary and yet it was the purest clarity I've ever experienced.

Poetry, it let him see the incredible incredible things I feel for him.

In this unpredictable moment,

poetry overcame me like a hurricane and my life was changed.

It taught me how vulnerable I actually am.
