Civil Rights
The Civil Rights movement began over 60 years ago
It was very influential, as you may know
One important man was Martin Luther King, Jr.
He opposed the opinion that whites were superior
He caught everybody's attention with "I have a dream"
He hoped for a nation where no race was supreme
Malcom X helped African American unity
Over time his views changed substantially
He converted to Islam while in jail
He was much opposed but did prevail
Rosa Parks would not give up her seat, causing a fuss
This led to the boycott of the Montgomery bus
Her passion to be equal was very strong
And It helped Southern blacks and whites get along

I think it's great that you used historical events in your poem, but used language so that all of the events would be connected and rhyme. Enjoyable to read, and informative! One reason why we write poems is to remember the past. Take a look at the "Resources" for more tips and inspiration!
