Christmas Sonnet

Location

The seasons change as days and weeks go by,

But winter is what I would like right now.

My favorite time is Christmas, I don’t lie,

I get excited more as time counts down.

5          When gentle snowflakes fall down from the sky,

A cool white blanket covers earth in parts.

The Christmas lights are bright, the tree stands high,

            Sweet happiness warms everybody’s hearts.

            Unfortunately, I just cannot wait,

10        Time isn’t willing to speed up, it’s slow.

I’ll learn to be so patient at this rate,

But in the end we’ll all enjoy the snow.

13                    The Christmas songs, gifts, friends, and snowball fights,

14                    Are worth the time in waiting for these sights.
