childlike wonder

when we’re you last a child?

that time you could close your eyes and dream with reckless abandon

holding onto that glimpse of simpler times

peanut butter and jelly on a Saturday

games after school

cartoons with your breakfast

and who took you by the shoulders and said

“it’s time to grow up”

what ripped you from that innocence into the real world

i chase the time when i was allowed to color outside the lines

and chase the stars like they were mine

i dare to become a child again

through cartoons and art

i dare to close my eyes

and dream

with reckless

abandon
