Childhood Innocence

I long for the days of childhood innocence

The days where the greatest joys in life were drawn from toys and books

When being pulled into a warm, affectionate squeeze meant forgiveness

Life where I didn’t worry for my looks

What I would give for just one day in the past

My youthful neighbour who has only had 4 years will live the life I once had

It is almost like I have been recast

In the story that some call life-

And may I add

The same story that can be ended with an evil soul holding a knife
