Child of Mine

Dear Child of Mine,

I can't promise we won't fight

I can't promise we won't yell

I can't promise we will agree on some things

I can't even promise you my patience

But I can promise you no matter how much we fight

how much we yell

how much we disagree

or how impatient we are

I will always love you.

Even if your first word is mommy

and not daddy

Even when you eat all the cookies

Even when you drive too fast

and get a ticket

I will still love you through all of it.

I long to meet you and who you'll be

I already think about you everyday

Just don't make the same mistakes as me.
