Chicago Girl

Boom! Pop! Boom!

I am a young Chicago girl surviving in this big world.

There is much to see besides this bloody city.

Here all you hear about is a death, a shooting, a homicide.

When a gun goes off you duck and hide.

I have lost acquaintences, peers, and friends.

The special ones that didn't make it to the end.

We should not have to live in fear,

Mothers should not shed tear.

A policeman arrives at the scene, but no one is left to be seen.

A daily struggle in Chicago, and I hope to be the last to go.
