"Chasing Stars"

Location

Sometimes you get caught,
In the swallowing of silence.
Random ricochets along the blackening walls;
One shot,
I miss you,
Two shots,
You loved me,
Three shots,
I loved you,
Four shots,
Too late.
Never did moments feel so ancient,
But so blaring.
I know they said you were bad for me,
Rolling spliffs and lighting bluffs,
The epitome of an opposite entity.
But they don’t know about the stars,
The night you looked at me as if I meant the world.
It didn’t seem to matter that we were in a crowded room,
All sound just got lost as the world encompassed around you and me. There were no more people,

But stars glittering outside the foyer.
The night you told me you’d always remember,
Well — I haven’t forgotten yet.
And now every time you say, “I love you” or call me “beautiful”, I remember how I under reacted.
Now I know just how much losing you hurt.
They can say all they want —
Say we were just fools.
But all I know is every time you say you wished you were there, I do too.
I remember just how easy it is to loose.
The art of loosing will never be hard,
But when you realize you’ve perfected it —
Nothing seems right.
