Charcoal

Tue, 05/02/2017 - 22:10 -- Rae.Fen

My head aloft, eyes cold

prepared to leave whatever damage I have to

For a brief second, invincibility washes over and tinges everything gray

I can transcend those who tether me to the earth

Unleash my unbreakable soul and chase down my dreams until I'm breathless

ready to slash these ties with no remorse

but then  these cords start to drip blood and disappointment and tears

"I love yous" and "I'm sorries" and "I cant do this without yous"

So slowly i pick them up and entwine them around my limbs

more bound than i was before

this half-baked phoenix may rise again

or not

and as my hatred grows, things start to grow a light charcoal
