A Change Worth its Sorrow

I remember when I heard the news.

It was hard for me to follow.

I remember when I went to see you,

My mind was still and hollow.

I remember giving you the card.

With the picture I painted myself.

I remember your amazement,

Now the picture lies on your shelf.

I remember hearing Week 1 results.

I let out a big deep sigh.

I remember sitting alone in my room,

With a little tear in my eye.

I remember when you came home from chemo.

To me you were still the same.

I remember going up to you,

You softly spoke my name.

I remember last seeing you,

The journey's not over yet.

I remember telling you to keep fighting,

I will never let you forget.
