Change

What is going on today?
Violence, hatred, negatiity surround me.
I look for a bright side but it's too dark to see.
In order to live we have to pay.
Blinded by our rights, we live "free."
Yet things get progressively worse day by day.
Why can't we live and let be?
Let the religious pray, let the atheist say nay.
Disrespect, dishonor, dishonesty all around me.
I've had it with this society, it's time for change.
Stand up with me brothers and sisters, it's time to lead.
Stop following, stop conforming, don't let anyone cast you away.
Our government operates like a corporation, I say it's time we take back the nation.
We follow blindly, we're told that everything will be "okay."
What happens when someone finally decides to do the deed?
What happens when we can't support our needs?
What happens when this world begins to crumble?
I'm not pointing fingers, we're all to blame.
The man who smokes a cigarette a day,
He's as guilty as the smoke free gay.
We got ourselves into this together.
I say we must change for the better.
Please! Wake up! Can't you see?
Our world is being destroyed, our race a dying breed.
The way things are going, we'll be gone in a century.
"We set ourselves up for failure." Many have said to me.
When the negatives outweight the positives, something is wrong.
My generation is doomed from birth, dying all along.
We can change this though, we can save ourselves.
But we must look to each other and offer out help.
So please, for me.
For your father.
For your mother.
For your future child.
We must make a change, the time is now.
We must, before it's too late.
So please, join me in changing our fate.
Please, disabandon your hate.
