Placing words on this paper 

Trying to say what's on my mind 

To help me understand why I feel dead inside 

Poetry can be used to express one's self 

It does not have to be beautiful or humorous 

It can be tasteless and dark 

Poetry has helped me express my problems 

As if addressing them 

Now that the problem is found 

I can work on fixing it 

Some things just take time to heal 

It sucks but it's possible 

Paying for college is going to be a bitch 

I don’t qualify for much help 

So I do what I can to fix this problem 

Writing poems to make ends meet 

For a chance at this scholarship
