At the center of this universe

He’s sitting and he’s scared

But no one spoke a word,

No one even dared

We all just looked around

No one knew what to do

We just sat and watched and listened

To what he was going through

His tormentor howled with laughter

The slurs and comments would sting

But no one knew exactly just what the abuse would bring

Then he started to cry

Waterfalls from his face

It was then that I had realized

His tormentor needed to be put in place

“Stop!” I say, “Stop right now”

I stepped forward into their world

“Do you think this changes anything?”

His tormentor quickly hurled

“This is my voice and this is what I’ll say

I think you should leave him be”

And then the tormentor did something so remarkable

The entire world had seen

He backed off and walked away

The war had officially been won

….if only someone used their voice sooner,

less damage would have been done
