Cases

2 Corinthians 7:1       New English Translation

Self-Purification

7 Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that could defile the body and the spirit, and thus accomplish holiness out of reverence for God.

Cases

My spirit is in lower case, and for sure, it belongs there

The "I" sporadically observe Spirit in the upper case here

My lower case reflects my position everywhere

The lower has no humility, for then the upper would be seen.

I do not realize the effect that sin imposes

On the spirit that is me and the one I am

My mind ignores my spirit and acts like it’s non-existing

That is how it is, framed by my shame

So if my soul can dominate and hide the “who” I am

Then the reality that is “me” is a second personality

Divided in thought and deed, not one in “who” I am

But two in one, where one is hidden, a split-personality

If I am at peace with this affair, then my spirit consensus

Body, soul, and my spirit put Holiness to shame

As my heart shows myself and my pretenses

Then the two become like one in this everlasting-game

Fruits of my spirit show then the condition of total me

Opposite from the fruitfulness the Holy Spirit provides

Anger and discontentment seem framed by selfish me

And will flourish like a poison plant very deep inside

2 Corinthians 7:1       New English Translation

Self-Purification

7 Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that could defile the body and the spirit, and thus accomplish holiness out of reverence for God.

When my spirit is redeemed, remember the one in the lower case?

. it’s woven into one with the “upper-case” Spirit

Lifted, I’ll rise above in soul to another phase

And start to see its ingredients and goals of its merits.

Despite self and whose I was, God supplied the hunger

For the one, I need to be to the Glory of my Savior

His righteousness and image provides my constant hunger

I want to be more like Him, but that is God’s endeavor

Obedience is the key to serving the Master

Follow is the call that sets me entirely free

To do what is right in my appetite to be faster

Delivered from the old “me” that I still seem to “wanna-be.
