Candles

I see it sitting there, that little candle of hope

The one we lit

To represent our tiny hearts coming as one

To represent

The laughter, the soul, and the happy little kindergartners we used to be

We lit the candles

With a great strength and bond

There were exactly twenty five

Twenty five graceful candles

That stood for our success

Our failures

Our happily ever after

But now,

There is just one little candle

Making it through everything

Lighting up the whole room

Just one

I see it sitting there, that little candle of hope.

The bond we share with one another to cope

Is incredible and powerful

And our life on this Earth

Is beautiful and memorable

Because even when everything doesn't seem to be going well,

We have the ability to remind ourselves

To just look around us and say,

Everything is awesome, because we are here today.
