Can You Sense Today?
Rising to the glow of your brightness
Teeth glistening
Peering through my lips
Mouth slowly recognizing
Today is here!
Deep crevasses begin to perch underneath my cheeks
Sighs of gladness overwhelm me as a waft of your scent fills my nostrils
I feel
This moment
Come once more
There
And there
Beat.
Beat.
And again
My heart flutters
It is a new day
And I opened my eyes once more
I have seen today.
What a glorious day!
Thoughts swirling in and out of my synapsis
Pondering the possibilities of opportunity
What shall I do today?
For you are--today
Greeting me with a lovely kiss
I stay there enjoying your embrace
Body
Rise
Ears
Listen to the wonderful sounds you are able to partake
I AM ALIVE!!
The darkness came
and tried to me away from you
but then
the day came and begged me to stay
grabbing my wrist
flinging the knife
writhing in pain
I screamed
GO AWAY!
Darkness flee from me
(almost tasting the grave)
I will not let go

Beat.
Stay
Beat.
In the dark I felt alone, yet here in the day of today
I am comforted by you
For you I smile
And hope rejoices
Singing songs of gladness
It is a new day!
And I am here
