Can You Hear Me?

Hello?
Can you hear me?
I'm simply another voice clamoring for attention
In this vast see of faces.
Stand on the beach and look out across the water
To see thousands of us.

Hello?
Can you hear me?
I am the girl who silently sits three desks back
Screaming without words.
I am the lead part in this school drama we live in,
Whispering my unseen fears.

Hello?
Can you hear me?
I make earsplitting noise no one wants to hear
Will no one listen?
We have one mouth and two ears for a reason.
Why won't you change!

Why don't I change?

Hello.
I can hear you.
I recognize your desperate hopes, your hidden pain;
I care for you.
Stand on the beach and listen to the crashing waves: join me.
We can hear the world.

Hello?
