A Call to Be Myself

Sat, 10/17/2015 - 17:47 -- Auré

I am not a jar to be labeled

I am not a defendant to be judged

I am not a lady to sit and listen with her hands folded

I am not an insect to be crushed

I am not a cry to be ignored

I am not a robot to conform to society

I am not a current to go with the flow

I am not a glass to be called delicate

I am not a computer to obey commands

I refuse to be what people want me to be

I refuse to change my ways to please others

I refuse to submit to the status quo

I refuse to be a clone

I am original

I am unique

I am crazy

I am a tomboy

I am a nerd

I am a reader

I am a scholar

I am a feminist

I am a musician

I am a poet

I am content to be flawed

I am pleased with my differences

I am okay with being weird

I am happy with myself

I am who I am

Because I am who I am called to be

I am who I want to be
