The cake is a lie
The cake is a lie
The baker was owned;
But not free;
Unlike her co-workers for so many years
Blood is in that cake
Death is in that cake
War is in that cake
But it looks so sweet
The icing so smooth
The candles forever burning
But never take a knife to it
For the inside is cold and hard
Dry and stiff
You never will truly know until you look for yourself
The baker will say lie and say it's fine
But your mind will say it's not
The cake is a lie
The cake is a lie

Amazing metaphor regarding the true nature of humanity (at least that's what I got from it). It he/she seems nice, looks nice, acts nice - trust them! NO! Of course this could represent other symbols in this world; big business, etc. Wonderful poem with fantastic phrasing and great turns of phrase. I am impressed. :)
