Caged

I find myself in a dark corner:

No way out.

How did I get here?

I need to get out.

But the question remains,

How?

I close my eyes,

I feel I’m alive.

But the darkness engulfs me,

Moving deeper;

Through my skin,

Past my soul, to my bones.

Closer, darker, deeper

The darkness consumes me;

It feeds off my energy.

I find no release,

It will not sympathize with me,

It finds pleasure in what I can’t see.
