Caged

by Ariel Douglas (28 October 2014)

I am a beast

I am an animal

I am trapped in an unforgiving cage

I am destructive and I am broken

I am devouring all that I see

I am clawing and kicking

Biting and scratching

Every effort thickens the walls of the cage

Every claw mark bubbles rather than gashes

The walls are made of glass

Everyone can see my struggle

I am fighting and beating to no avail

Let me out, let me out I am sick of this cage

Let me out, let me out I am ready to be free

Please I beg you let me out!

Break down these glass walls

I cannot break them from in here

Lord knows I've tried

Break through these walls and let me out

I am sick of myself
