Burnt Colors of Our Nation

Sun, 02/19/2017 - 07:16 -- beirund

Independance won
War unending
Bombs burst in one another
Friendly fire, undying
Unfriendly voices, trying
Flag waving o'er us
My country and yours
A foreign flag on the horizon
Torn by proud patriotism
Land of the free
Imprison each other
Skin tone cuts trust
Like hot knives through butter

Free but not of capitalism
Consumerism galore
Money speaks, stores recieve
And we're drowning in them

Our flag broken down into color
Red for bloodshed on our soil and yours
Blue for floodwaters ripping families, torn
White for harsh winters that do parish our poor
Brave but not selfless, kind but not caring
Thrown under a nations expectations, buried

This poem is about:
My country
