burning the letter of a former lover

alone at night the fire rumbles

pushing hard to burst to life

spark of light in frozen jungle

virgin paper unstained by eye

precision folds urged to display

quiet letters hidden from sight

lines of desire buried away

their ashes soon to reach new heights

single flame grows to consume

thoughts denied the spoken word

deny the option to exhume

desperate roars will never be heard

my time for him gone up in smoke

hours of thought devoured by match

the bond between us finally broke

sparing my heart yet another crack

words of love once captured my heart

ripping my soul from the seams

crackling flame tears me apart

warmth of goodbye consoles broken dreams
