Burned out

Psalm 109:23

23 I am fading away like a shadow at the end of the day;
I am shaken off like a locust.

You burned out a long time ago and still you’re taking space

You smile and please everybody as you’re winding down

There is no place for you to go as you’re near the end of the race

Where someone is ready possibly to take your fading crown

You used to speak from the heart and now you read a piece of paper

You were passionate about your goals and now you live someone else’s

You had a fairly strong start and now you’re turning to vapor

It seems the end of your role does not explain your life too well
