Buck Buck

One rainy May day pure grace was brought to me.
Drugs had taken over and I just couldn't see.
But the miniature miracle, a wonder, a sign
Proved good still existed in those evil times.
His infant-sized form was placed in my arms
A tiny fawn buck won my heart with his charms.
His heart keeping time with the rapid tapping rain.
His precious mewl singing out a sweet refrain.
Over that year, he thrived and grew.
His antlers budded up and finally broke through.
My constant companion he knew all my moods.
He followed me everywhere throughout the woods.
He'd lie down beside me outside or indoors
And wait for me to finish my tedious chores.
My favorite memory of my precious Buck Buck
Was the kisses he'd give me when I was in a funk.
His antlers grew high and broad from his head
And one beautiful fall day, many tears I did shed.
He heard the call of the wild and I couldn't compete.
He's wild and free the circle is complete.
