a bump here

a smack there

bitten by the icy wind

feels not 

the Sun's life giving heat

but the cold

of a rigid winter's night

crying inside

with impossible tears

at the memory of being green and beautiful

joyous and simple

waiting

for the endless wind of life 

to cease

a stump
