Like A Broken Winged Bird

Thu, 12/06/2018 - 01:48 -- Fishboy

Just because you have taken my wings,
Do not think I can be captured
Held in your tight grip
Captured
Held like a child holds a bird,
Broken winged and lifeless
With a mixture of awe
Wonder
And sadness
Knowing that what has been done to this bird
What you have done to this bird
Has caused it to die
Has caused me to die
Nevermore to fly
Nevermore to spread its sweet song
Because its throat
My throat
Has been stilled.

Its wings were broken by the violence of this world
My wings were broken by the violence of this world
And because of the violence of this world
What you did was even more atrocious
Even more against the laws that all things precious should be
Protected
Savored
Cherished.
You,
Despiser of Beauty.
You,
Killer of songbirds
Killer of me,
Are not fit for Love.
But you are fit for this world
For the world knows no Love.
