A Broken Alibi, A Shattered Soul

Wed, 01/09/2019 - 14:27 -- A.W.

A silent drop

of whispered tears

A murmured glance

of shadowed fears

Up above infinity

flying just below eternity

What I am

I cannot explain

I simply am

I'm simply me

A figure

I cannot recall

nor chase away

Floating endlessly

though millions breach

and attempt to reach

to bring back

what they once had

If I am what they wish

and I wish what they are

Is it me that once attempted to reach

and managed a hold on something above?

Is it I that brought my hands down

to wipe away tears

or collect pain?

If I were,

I would not be able to say

For if I was

Perhaps its best

that none have managed

to see who I have become

I am lost,

yet I feel found

embraced by that

surrounding me

which I cannot explain

I float

at the mercy of the one in charge

if that is me

then I am at the mercy of myself

for which I plead

would have it once

at least to me

and not sacrifice itself

for mere spite

A single tear

of fading ash

A promised vow

of a broken stash

Down below the nothing

Just above the vast

That is where you'll find me

Trapped in endless thoughts
