Broadway

You raise up the curtains for your lines.

You know every word and every part.

You thought you knew how it would end from the start.

You're talking so much but saying little.

I walked the earth, you won't meet me in the middle.

You're singing your song on old Broadway,

but now the audience has gone away.

You're reading your script,

you know your part,

but the words you say aren't from the heart.

You're singing your song on old Broadway,

but now the audience has gone away.

You're all caught up in yesterday,

but the world sees you're putting on a play.

Costumes, make-up, lights on for the show.

You're reading lines that I already know.

Time for a new role starting now.

So while I leave go head and take a bow.

You're singing your song on old Broadway,

but now the audience has gone away.

You're singing a new song with no sound.

But the audience is nowhere to be found.

You're singing your song on old Broadway,

but now the audience has gone away.
