Breakfast Conversations

Location

You don't understand

Depression is my friend and enemy

That lives in my head and vacations

on my shoulders.

I wish I could get better

but depression eats your optimisim

for breakfast

And I can't simply post an evicted notice

on my forehead

And help it carry it's bag to the rental van.

I hope someday you understand

That your life jacket of positivity

only lifts me to breathe

But it doesn't drag me out of the water

I'm drowning in.
