The Bowler & The Batsman

I ponder my thoughts as hours fly by

remembering what use to be our pastime.

A game that brought us close together,

a bowler and batsman eternally, forever.

Disregard for mother's intuition,

his affection made me forget her suspicion.

A duo of i do’s,

but a love like this could not possibly be true.

I saw the fire in his eyes.

One swing of the bat and I began to fly.

His face filled with fury.

Farewell to our flawless love story.

I ran, hiding.

He followed, seeking.

Within the structure balanced by wings

I found a home among lofty beings.

Keeping away from the bat in hand,

high above the gruesome man.

My hands firm on the controls, I was empowered,

watching down as he continues to scour.

I remember once more, our game of choice,

but continue soaring superior to land, escaping all noise.

A game that brought us close together,

a bowler and batsman asunder, forever.
