Born From The Brave

The opportunity they give me are like the fast food handouts they pass out on the street. Profile me and see what I can be. Black and powerful is what I see. I'm more than a thing I'm a human being a heart and soul is what you can't see. Love me for me or for ever hold your peace. The symphony's of extraordinary black notes that my people bring are more than a cord on a guitar string. Every beat is apart of my history a history created for someone else's needs, the bass of those American made drums pounds against my heart beat just another thing they stole from me the drums from my country they made hard and stripped them clean, just like how they did my history. So the millions of children from those symphonies will never get to learn the richness of their being. They blind me from seeing how we got free. Every step I take is the step of a previous slave. I come from hard work, I come from the brave.
