Bodies Aren't Good Storytellers

Wed, 07/01/2015 - 20:02 -- Kmg44
Bruises,
Loose skin,
Pigment,
Cuts,
Fat,
Stretch Marks,
Color,
Scratches.

Our bodies are storytellers,
Revealing our deepest secrets
Without making a sound,
Without an explanation.

Our bodies don't know the full story.
The history,
The tears,
The struggle,
The pain,
The grief,
That is tied to every single piece of our being.

So we judge,
We gossip,
We bully,
We lie,
We become the monsters that our bodies can't see,
The monsters that aren't in their stories.
We are monsters
Because we are more than our bodies,
Because we are alive,
Because we are human.

We are more than a shell,
More than a cage.
Our bodies can't tell our stories
Without leaving out a page.

So why do we judge,
Gossip,
Bully,
Lie,
And let the stories that we see
On people's bodies
Steal away our humanity?

We need to use our humanity,
Not to judge,
Not to gossip,
Not to bully,
Not to lie,
But to spread love and empower.

Because we can.
Because we are more than our bodies.
Because we are alive.

Let's make something of ourselves,
And show each other that we are more than our outsides.
Let's act like we're human beings,
Not bodies.

Because we are more than our
Bruises,
Loose skin,
Pigment,
Cuts,
Fat,
Stretch marks,
Color,
Scratches.
Because we are more than our outsides.
