Bluebird

Location

I’d found a little bluebird,

And mother said how nice,

‘Twas a very welcomed change

From the teeth and claws and lice.

My friends --while glad-- before long said:

He isn’t yours, you know,

I laughed, “Of course, he’s just my friend!”

I had to let him go.

I’d found a little bluebird

That didn’t belong to me.

His momma might be missing him!

It’s best to set him free…

“I know, I KNOW,” I kicked and screamed

My frustration started to grow.

“It’s hard when he’s so close to me!”

I had to let him go.

I’d found a little bluebird,

I know, they’re right, it’s true:

My friend did not belong with me,

So off, away, he flew.

He’s finally free!  Let him fly,

They said; my heart was filled with woe.

I would have rather died, but knew

I had to let him go.

I’d found a little bluebird,

And saw at once, you know,

He’s all I’d ever wanted, but

I had to let him go.

I’d found a little bluebird.

I had to let him go.
