Blood Isn't Thicker Than Water

Location

Parents try to raise you right
And teach you it's not good to fight.
Always be good they said.
Don't be a bully they said.
Two statements that stay in my head.
Practice what you preach,
Don't reap what you sew,
But mine don't do that though.
This needs to change or I'll never be the same.

My only bully is you,
I've been verbally abused
And more times than a few.
Say you wanna beat me,
Say you wanna fight.
Well what are you waiting for?
You've been raising me oh so very poor.
This needs to change or I'll never be the same.

If I speak my mind you're angry,
And if I don't you're not.
Seems like you bully quite a lot.
Call me names and pick on me
Good thing I'm not insecure.
I wonder if I did the same to you,
Bet I'd find out if you were.
This needs to change or I'll never be the same.

I try to talk to you about it
But all you do is deny.
How can we ever fix this,
If all you think I do is lie?
You're supposed to build me up
But all you do is break me down.
Then you always wonder why I only frown.
This needs to change or I'll never be the same.

My friends are always there for me,
On them I can always rely.
They talk me through tough situations
Or they might even drop by.
You would think parents treat you better
After all, I am their daughter.
I just happen to be in a rare situation
Where blood isn't thicker than water.
.. This needs to change or I'll never be the same.
