Blinkers

Luke 17:24

24 For just like the lightning flashes and lights up the sky

from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in His day.

Blinkers

Lightning flashing through the window

Announcing that darkness is temporal

A flash for a second in time appearing

Slicing distance and so to dissect it

No thunder can be felt or heard

Just an expectation from nature’s echo

Expectations are in thirsty streams hurled

Calling the showers to release their load

Thinking shallow in reason of the deep

Trying to penetrate the far and unseen

Ignoring all the cries of pain and tears

As self-absorbed to enjoy the obscene

Drawing pictures in my heart

Really carving them more in stone

Calling sensitivity a great part

As now I sigh in constant groans

The fleshy tables seem so hidden

By callousness and insensitive skin

Somewhere now it feels forbidden

By indifference ruling deep within
