Blessing

Psalm 28:7 New English Translation (NET Bible)

The Lord strengthens and protects me,
I trust in him with all my heart,
I am rescued and my heart is full of joy;
I will sing to him in gratitude.

Blessings

So many! How to count them?

The things I take for granted,

because they don't bother me.

From food to eat and teeth to chew

and taste given to be free.

Fingers and hands and arms that move

and air to breathe and sight.

Legs and feet and joints and toes

a voice and ears and thighs.

A miracle man is what I am

formed by the hands of God.

Made out of dust framed by his thoughts

it seems I long forgot.

He gave me to rhyme and so much time,

He gave me all I see.

The universe with all the stars

and His Son to set me free.

Before the world ever began

when all was dark and void.

In the bright light in heaven's dawn

there I was in the plan of God.

He gives me freedom in my heart

so I can freely roam

through the vast expanse of love divine

that is God's very own.

He never travels to and fro

He is always by my side,

in all the things that I seem to do

either wrong or right.

Is it me who produces facts

or fiction as they come

or is it "Him", Who reaches through,

to produce all good what's done?

Outside of Christ, there is no Life

with Him, there is no death.

There is much joy, some inner strife

as grief and pain are fed.

It is not because of Him

but yes! It is really so.

I want to be like Him within

but my flesh loves to oppose.

The contradiction that I am,

is it a blessing from above?

To understand, that one day soon

I’ll be lifted by His Love.

To heights still unknown to me,

that Jesus calls sublime.

Just labor now in the Will of God

for there is so little time.
