Bless You

You bless me
With a tear that drips
From your chin
To the arm of this faded couch
A tiny blue river of you
That dries with my sighs
As bad jokes spill
On hearing ears
Fears fall away
I pray the Only
God's enough for now
To keep us alive 'cause
You bless me
With angry salt water
Push my Kleenex hand away
Let the rest of me stay close
To the girl in you
Who's man enough to cry
A hot-tear potion
Of resentment and relief
As we hunger for love and tepid tacos
Just a couple of flakes
In the office at midnight
Forgoing the crack-pipe
We crack-up and pretend fight
Two women
Different and the same
Powerful and slightly lame
We hop and hobble
Across an apocalyptic sunset roof
Final proof that we can cobble
Our figures from this earth
Watch tapes on self-worth
And call to say
We got home safe.
