Bleeding Women

Thu, 12/03/2015 - 16:13 -- muse539

When did the idea of being a woman become filled with dread?

Desperate women, driven to the knife,

Just like in the stories I have read.

Bleeding women dragging themselves to bed.

Women who should be my rolemodels, tired of life.

When did the idea of being a woman become filled with dread?

These women, who should feel joyful and whole, instead

live an existence of misery, self-consciousness and strife,

Just like in the stories I have read.

Happy girls turned oppressed women, all but bled

dry and filled with grief.

When did the idea of being a woman become filled with dread?

Some gentlewomen have said

that we are not doomed to this life.

Just like in the stories I have read.

Even then, most have fled,

Too scared of this life.

When did the idea of being a woman become filled with dread?

Just like in the stories I have read.
