Bleeding Hearts

Bleeding hearts like broken glass

The only thing left to remember the past

Dripping down sidewalks like silicone tears

A face made of plastic to hide all your fears

The shine in your eye like a sky full of stars

The once empty canvas now painted with scars

Your hand is as cold as an old marble alter

A religion that failed and a faith that has faltered

I promise to save you if you just take my hand

I promise to lead you, but first you must stand

I promise to love you, no you don’t have to earn it

You don’t have to fight or prove you deserve it

Patch up your heart anyway that you can

Open your eye and reach out for my hand

Any heart that beats can learn to be sutured

Let go of the past and write your own future
